6 Habits I Cultivated During LockdownFebruary 15, 2021
Lockdown has been mentally and physically taxing for everybody. During this lockdown I was stuck for four months in the cold Himalayan mountain state of Uttarakhand with airports and borders sealed, I had no way to reach home. As the uncertainty of Covid grew so did my anxiety. And through this darkness I decided to prevail. I knew that the very moment where everything seems bleak is the moment I had to find strength to persevere through this time by myself.
My Daily Grind
Instead of going into self pity mode, I decided to begin a healthy routine. The first thing I decided to change was my sleep pattern. I began waking up earlier which also led me to sleeping earlier a clear win on both sides. I developed a new taste for mint tea as well. After which I would drag my plastic chair outside to the balcony and soak in the warm sun during the chilly morning and read my books. Once that was done, I would begin my 30 minutes of yoga in the morning thereafter cooking myself lunch and dinner. During the afternoon, I would watch Netflix or finish assignments from the fellowship and by evening I would have some buttered toast and do an online course.
Home AT LAST
I finally reached home in July 2020 two days before my dad’s birthday. I was mentally and physically drained from the exhaustion of the journey and the months of being stuck in a beautiful location. Determined not to give up on my mental as well as physical health I decided to develop six habits :
Before I begin if you are interested to know more about a particular habit I developed during the lockdown you could tap the habit, as I have written in depth about it.
Now especially during the pandemic, it was more so required to avoid myself from overthinking, anxiety and fall in the loop of negative thoughts.
It was certainly difficult to begin habits, because really who wants to be out of their comfort zone at home. The line between workspace and home has been blurred as the pandemic has shown us. So I decided after recently quitting my job that I wanted to stay sharp.
All the six habits I cultivated at home gives me a sense of accomplishment, immense pride and satisfaction and my favorite of them all peace of mind.
