A Travel Meet In GoaMarch 28, 2021
Life works out in mysterious ways. My trip to the mountain got cancelled due to lockdown in the state. My mom mentioned that there was a travelers talk happening in Anjuna, 20 minutes away from our house. While I booked our tickets I thought to myself, “If I can’t create stories, what’s stopping me from hearing them?”.
The event was organized by ‘Festivalist‘ in collaboration with Soul Travelling. Before the event started, I couldn’t even pronounce the name of the event, ‘Pecha Kucha’ ( Petch-aa Koo-chaa.) . As the night slowly rolled in I began learning more by the minute.
Pecha Kucha is actually derived from the Japanese word, ‘chit-chat’. It’s was apparently created by two guys in the architecture firm in Tokyo that got bored with long presentations. So they decided to create their own format. A dozen of speakers usually participate in a single event. So basically the speaker displays 20 images with 20 seconds durations to talk about it. This kind of presentation ensures the speakers remain concise. So in total the speaker gets around 6 minutes 40 seconds.
I was thrilled, eager to listen to the stories from 12 different Indian travelers.
We had stories from carpenters, yogi’s, dancers, mothers talk about their view of travelling. The adrenaline they felt cliff jumping, river rafting it was an exhilarating experience listening to these talks.
