I listened to ted talk on and off for 3 years. But in 2020 I lost myself and lost my habit of watching a Ted Talk. I was riddled with anxiety, and everything seemed like it triggered me especially life changing Ted Talks. But in 2021 I decided to make it a habit after I reading Atomic habits by James clear. In his book he talks the concept of habit stacking,
One of the best ways to build a new habit is to identify a current habit you already do each day and then stack your new behavior on top. This is called habit stacking. Rather than pairing your new habit with a particular time and location, you pair it with a current habit.James Clear
I paired watching a Ted Talk with Meditation. I started watching ted talks under 5 minutes, this made me feel accomplished and I actually learned alot. Then I moved onto under 10 minute Ted Talks. In 2 months I have watched over 60 Ted Talks, who knew, so much could be accomplished with just a perspective shift.
I have learnt alot from Atomic Habits, it taught me about habit stacking and starting small. It gives you a sense of accomplishment and once you see the results it motivates you. I have observed this in other aspects of my life. A small example would be watering my plants, earlier I watered them whenever I remembered, but now since its a habit, I can see new leaves grwo, the colors of vibrancy. It makes me so happy, I do it without fail.
